Reginald "Reggie" Van Howell III, known in Japan as Houzan Gokaido (五階堂宝山, Gokaidō Hōzan) or "Mr. Elite" (エリート君, Elitekun) is the top-ranking freshman of the second year, who was set up to Duel against Chazz Princeton as a challenge from Dr. Vellian Crowler to prove if the latter is worthy of returning to Obelisk Blue and so that he could be the next big star after Aster Phoenix stoped showing up to Crowler's classes. He is commonly called Reggie as it is his nickname. Alexis Rhodes even referred to him as a "miny Chazz" causing Jaden Yuki and Syrus Truesdale to agree with her. Despite pushing Chazz into a corner and reducing him to 200 Life points, Chazz made a comeback and won thanks to his Ojamachine Yellow Token,s. Chazz then gave a speech on how no matter what his dorm, he would always be better than Reggie much to Reggie's displeasure.
Personality[]
Reggie's personality greatly differs from the Japanese and English versions. In the Japanese version, he idolizes Chazz and is respectful, even during the Duel. In the English version, however, he insults Chazz without end, though he does state he formerly admired him when they were in secondary school. Also in the dub, he has a tendency to refer to things such as Life Points and Attack Points as simply "points", using phrases like "I pay 800 points" or "Your monster has no points."
Deck[]
Reggie plays a Warrior Deck that utilizes many different Equip Spell Cards to power up his monsters. It seems to be based directly on Structure Deck: Warrior's Triumph, since Reggie also uses "Gilford the Legend".
