The Plantar family is a family of amphibians living at the Plantar Farm.

It initially consisted of Hop Pop Plantar, who is the patriarch and grandfather figure; Sprig Plantar, an enthusiastic young frog who's always in mischief but also kind and compassionate; and the youngest member Polly Plantar, who is still a pollywog. Anne Boonchuy, a teenage human spirited away from her family home, was adopted into the family and eventually became an honorary Plantar member. And Later Frobo a frobot that was accidentally created and would up forming a sibling bond with Polly also became part of the plantar family as a surrogate member.

Background[]

Early beginnings[]

The origin of the Plantar family can be traced back to events dating back thousands of years ago instigated by a female frog named Leif, who incidentally created the Plantar ritual dance that sends prey into a trance.

Initially the friend of the prince of Amphibia at the time, Andrias, she initially agreed to the king's plans for multiversal domination, but changed her mind when her fingers laid hands on the gems on this mysterious music box the Newtopian kingdom was using for electricity. Seeing a dark future ahead for Amphibia should the multiversal show of force go on, Leif, whose pleads to Aldrich failed, stole the box for herself and ran out the kingdom on a Moss Man to seek the mother of olms. Ever since her departure with the box, Andrias let go of all his friendships and was now deadset on world domination, and the kingdom - and Amphibia as a whole - fell into disarray and its once-advanced civilization eventually eroded into a life of simplicity.

Start of the family[]

Meanwhile, Leif put the box on Earth and left a mark in a vase that depicted her encounter with some wayward Vikings. Once she returned, she knew she couldn't return to the kingdom and to her old friends, so Leif decided to start fresh. Now going under Lily Plantar, Leif laid down the groundwork for a new family, a new town she and the other founders dubbed "Wartwood", and a new home she carved out of a tree stump. Ever since Leif started the Plantar family, many new members came to be, many of them becoming successful in their own ways, despite the old-fashioned ways of frogs. One of them would be Leif herself; she would go on to be engaged and married to someone and live a happy life together. She would watch many townsfolk come and go, and her husband pass on, but deep down, she still had a spot in her heart for her old friends, Andrias and Barrel, leading her to create a letter to Andrias asking him to open his heart as she aged. She would leave the letter in her room, which would remain untouched for over a thousand years. Leif died with the hope that her letter would one day reach Andrias.

Sprig and Polly[]

In the thousands of years after Leif passed on, many Plantar offspring would be born, including Hop Pop Plantar, Mr. and Ms. Plantar, Sprig Plantar and Polly Plantar. However, Sprig and Polly would not see their parents not long after they were born.

Many years before the start of the series, Hop Pop lived with his son and daughter-in-law, raising their young son and infant daughter, Sprig and Polly, in Wartwood Swamp. One day, Hop Pop went on a journey with the family's snail, Bessie, and while he was gone, herons attacked Wartwood. Hop Pop arrived too late to save Mr. and Mrs. Plantar from getting devoured by the birds, but he managed to rescue their children in time and fight back against the herons.

Taking in a stranger and further adventures[]

In the present day, Hop Pop agreed to look after a strange creature, the human known as Anne Boonchuy, but was very paranoid when he first started looking after her because he thought Anne was going to destroy the whole town and eat its inhabitants. Once the family really got to know Anne, they realized she really wasn't a monster after all, and Anne became a part of the family.

Following this, the Plantar family embark on a trip travelling around Amphibia to Newtopia by the Fwagon pulled by Bessie to find a way to get Anne home. Along the way, the family search for answers on the mysterious Calamity Box and how to get Anne back to her own world while having their own fun.

Anne has shown to get along very well with her new surrogate frog family, with little to no disagreements shown between her and the Plantars. There has been a few times where her relationship with one of them was strained, though, one of them being with her own BFF, Sprig, after a failed bunking session with him. However, they would make up and there would be no more fights between them. However, one of the most significant instances was with her and Hop Pop after he hid the box with the intention to apparently keep Anne in Amphibia. However, they would make up.

After a hasty escape from King Andrias in the Newtopia Castle right to Earth, the Plantars take refugee at the Boonchuy residence in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Role in the Resistance[]

As the Plantars returned to Amphibia, they join the Wartwood Resistance in their base, which was converted from the destroyed home's basement. With their help, the Resistance would gain many more new members to help them defeat Andrias before he is able to begin his plan of multiversal conquest.

Moving on[]

After defeating Andrias in Los Angeles and after Anne vanquished the threat of the Core once and for all, the Plantars go about their daily lives. Polly has since then grew hair and has turned into a fully-sized frog girl, Sprig has grown his hair out and is going on adventures with Ivy, and Hop Pop now lives a life with Sylvia Sundew, his crush, and presumably life partner, having started a business reselling Californian Avocados to the people of Wartwood.
