Masukami (増髪), also known as Omasu, is a member of the Oniwabanshū. She helps run the Aoiya, assisted by Okina, and serves as Makimachi Misao's caretaker.
Appearance[]
Omasu has long brown hair that is tied in a bun with some hanging in front of her forehead, and thin eyebrows.
While working at the inn, Omasu wears a kimono with a flower pattern and an apron.
Omasu's Oniwanbanshu outfit consist of a white sleeveless shirt with a large light blue trim, a blue skirt, a large yellow ribbon wrapped around her waist, two shields worn on each of forearms, and bandages around her feet.
Personality[]
Omasu is a kind and caring person. Omasu cares about Misao and doesn't want to see her to get hurt, although she won't stop her when Misao sets her mind on something.
Relationships[]
- Makimachi Misao: Omasu is one of Misao's caretakers.
- Okina: Omasu worker for Okina at the inn and as a member of the Oniwanbanshu.
- Kukojo, Shira, and Okon: Omasu is a comrade of the three, in the Oniwanbanshu.
Abilities[]
She wields two basket shaped shuriken, similar to targe like discuses, that she uses either as a weapon or as a shield.
History[]
Kyoto Arc[]
When Misao returned from her trip to Tokyo, Omasu greeted her with Kurojo, Shira, and Okon. Days later, Omasu informs Okina that their are some young ladies who wants to see him. Later that night, as Omasu is closing up, Okon asks her where Okina is at which Omasu replies that he is already asleep. When the Owl Clan attacks the in, Omasu and the rest easily manages to take them out. As they interrogate the leader of the Owl Clan, Omasu tells him that they are not ogres and that answer their questions but the leader just spits in her face.
The next day, Omasu is helping fix the damage with Kurojo when Misao comes in. Misao asks what happened and where is Okina, which Omusa tries to hide the truth from her but Misao easily sees through it. Misao easily finds out that Okina has left with his old outfit and asks where he went, which Omusa tells her. Omusa and Kurojo watches as Misao leaves. Kurojo wonders if it was alright to tell her, which Omusa replies that she had to let Misao do something. Later, Omusa is talking with Kaoru and Yahiko with the others when Aoshi shows up. After seeing Aoshi, Omusa get worried about Okina. Omusa wonders what to do, but watches as Yahiko and Kaoru confront Aoshi.
The next day, Omasu is outside the room that Misao is watch over Okina in, and wonders if she is okay. After Misao read Okina letter to her and changes her clothes, Omusa and the rest are shocked when Misao proclaims that she will defeat Aoshi and being the leader of the Oniwanbanshu.
Days later, Omusa is doing the laundry when Misao asks how much a gatling gun cost which Surprised Omusa. They then receive a letter from Kenshin, that informs them that of Shishio's plan to set Kyoto on fire. Omusa and the rest change into their Oniwanbanshu outfits and head out. Omusa and the rest manages to stop Shishio's men and head back to the Inn.
The next day, Omusa, Shira, and Kurojo bring Misao, Kenshin, Yahiko, and Kaoru to Okina, who had just woken up. Omusa then lends Okina a shoulder as Okina explains the situation about Aoshi and that they have to kill him. Omusa is then relieved when Kenshin says that they can bring Aoshi back and Misao is glad about this. Sano then arrives and informs them when they would be facing Shishio and his men. Later that night, Omusa is with everyone else when Okina tells Kenshin that he doesn't need to worry about them.
The next day, Omusa and the others watch as Kenshin, Saito, and Sano head out to face Shishio and his men. Later when Shishio's men arrive, Omusa and the rest prepare to fight them. Okina explains the situation they are in, which Omusa faces off against Iwanbo with Okon, Kurojo, and Shira. The four manages to land a hit on Iwanbo with their weapons, but it does nothing. Iwanbo then attacks them and manages to wound them. Misao worries about them, but Okina convinces them to keep fighting, which Omusa and the rest get back up. After Henya and Kamatari are defeated, Omusa and the rest are prepared to fight Iwanbo with Kaoru and Misao, but Iwanbo leaves. As Fuji arrives and destroys the in, Omusa and the rest quickly save an Okina, who was sent flying. As Fuji goes to attack again, Omusa is surprised when Hiko arrives and stops Fuji's attack. Omusa then watches as Hiko fight Fuji and manages to win. After the fighting is finished, Omusa makes everyone some tea.
After Shishio is defeated, Omusa and everyone else decide to celebrate that lasts a month. When Cho suddenly shows up, Omusa and the rest listen as Cho explains what happened to Shisho's men who survive. Days later, Omusa and the rest bid Kenshin and his friends farewell, as they head back to Tyoko.
Hokkaido Arc[]
Five years later, Okina gives Omusa a letter to be sent to Kenshin in Hokkaido by telegraph, which Omusa tells Okina how much a long letter will cost.
