Kaoru Gojo (, Gojō Kaoru?) is the grandfather of Wakana Gojo.
Appearance[]
Kaoru is an elderly man with short white hair and black eyes, who has discernible wrinkles on his face and light stubble around his chin. He stands at a shorter height than his grandson, Wakana, and is slightly hunched over as well. He wears the same kind of work outfit as Wakana (a samue) along with glasses, and black-laced sandals.
Personality[]
Kaoru is a caring grandfather towards Wakana, having looked after him since the death of his parents. He is shown to be passionate and loving towards the art of creating hina dolls and supports his grandson in his goal to become a kashira-shi (hina doll maker) like him.
Kaoru was put off by seeing Wakana play Slippery Girls, an adult video game, but didn't make any comment on it and believed it was only normal since Wakana was at puberty age. He was also shocked to see that Wakana had a pair of stockings and accidentally hurt his back in the process. This was clearly out of the ordinary for Kaoru, as both these instances were very much out of character for Wakana. After seeing Wakana at home with Marin by themselves, he jumped to the conclusion that they got up to something and raised his voice, only apologizing upon realizing that it was a misunderstanding.
Kaoru is dedicated to his hina doll art and takes it very seriously, saying that should he miss even a single day's work, it would take three days for him just to regain that level of practice.
History[]
In the past, Wakana's mother and father passed away and he took it upon himself to raise Wakana. His grandson would develop an interest in his profession of making Hina dolls and becomes his mentor on how to craft and create them.
Plot[]
Kaoru is first introduced in a flashback during Chapter 1 as Wakana's grandfather.
Relationships[]
Wakana Gojo[]
His grandson whom he fosters. Kaoru is very close with Wakana, having introduced him to hina dolls and supporting him in his dream to become a craftsman just like him. He goes to buy Wakana a new sewing machine after the old one stopped working. Upon returning, Kaoru is put off by Wakana playing an eroge video game. He becomes rather concerned for Wakana, not knowing that his playing of the game and purchasing stockings were to make a cosplay outfit for Marin. Afterwards however, Kaoru becomes content with his grandson having made a friend and even believes that helping Marin with her outfits has also improved Wakana's hina doll work.
Marin Kitagawa[]
Despite the way they met, with Kaoru assuming that her and Wakana did something inappropriate, Kaoru apologizes for having raised his voice and later gets on well with Marin. He becomes concerned for the girl after seeing her regular diet and poor cooking, choosing to invite her for dinner every now and then, showing that he cares for her wellbeing.
Sajuna Inui[]
Kaoru saw Sajuna outside his store in the rain and assumed that she was one of Wakana's friends. He allowed her to come inside and use their bathroom to wash herself up. Later on, Kaoru tells Wakana to be a good host and get her a drink out, not knowing that Wakana didn't know the girl.
