Bill is a minor antagonistic character of The Owl House. He is a short, elderly witch and the Titan Trapper elder who wants to kill the last remaining Titan, King. He was turned into a puppet by his god through unknown means and his current fate is unknown.
Appearance[]
Body[]
At first, Bill looks similar in height and appearance to King. However, under his mask he has tan skin, wrinkled lips, and gray, spiky hair. He has yellow sclera reminiscent of King's, and turquoise iris, but his left eye is without an iris at all. Additionally, he has a long, diagonal battle scar running from the bottom of his stomach up to his chest.
Clothing[]
Bill disguises his face with a tan skull that has long, pointed horns and teeth, atop which is a melting black candle with a blue flame. He wears a dark gray cowl over a cyan robe with yellow trim and a brown belt with a satchel attached to it. He also wears short navy-blue pantaloons.
Personality[]
At first glance, Bill seems to be a person who could be reasoned with. He was willing to listen to Luz, though he made no secret of the fact that he didn't care about Belos or the potential danger the Emperor posed. He also warned Luz that Belos was nothing compared to the wickedness of a living Titan and seemed to sincerely believe they were dangerous. Bill also initially agreed to support Luz in her fight against Belos, but that was before his true nature was revealed and it is unclear how genuine that act of support would have been.
However, all of this only covered Bill's true nature, in which he turned out to be a bloodthirsty, cruel fanatic. He became obsessed with killing the last living Titan and described with sadistic amusement what he would to do to the Titan once he found him. Bill also doesn't seem to notice or doesn't care how much his disposition can repel others, such as when he showed his battle scars to Luz and Hooty or described his intentions to kill the last Titan without realizing how shocked they were both were.
When Bill finally learned that King was the Titan he was looking for, he didn't hesitate to attempt to sacrifice him in the ritual despite the fact that King is a child. Bill is also very impatient and gets very short-tempered when things don't go the way he wants.
Although Bill is the leader of the Titan Trappers, it is unclear if he cares about them at all or sees them as little more than a means to an end. He is also power-hungry and more than willing to lie to his people, promising them glory if they free The Collector through King's sacrifice, when all he really wanted was to keep the glory for himself.
Bill is at least as cruel as Belos, but not half as good at hiding that malice. When the other Trappers suspiciously question the truth of his words, Bill struggles to explain and is unable to come up with a convincing answer. Even when Hooty asks if Titans are even evil, he is unable to speak honestly, implying that he deliberately lied to Luz when he told her that a living Titan would be an unimaginable evil.
Background[]
Bill claims to have battle scars older than Emperor Belos' reign over the Boiling Isles and claims to have seen the last living Titan before it disappeared. Supposedly, the Titan Bill encountered let out a massive roar that blew out his eardrums. As a Trapper, Bill worships the Grand Huntsman and claims that he would need to hunt down and kill a Titan to release him. In order to advertise his quest, he took a printmaking class and made a poster about the hunt for the lost son of the Boiling Isles.
In "Edge of the World," Luz and Hoot meet Bill in hopes to have him and the Trappers join their fight against Emperor Belos. Bill agrees to help, but warns them that Belos is nothing compared to a living Titan. Luz would later reject Bill's aid, and the Trapper discovers that King is a young Titan by overhearing him say "weh".
With the last Titan found, Bill arranges a sacrificial ceremony to release the Grand Huntsman, only for it to be thwarted by Luz and Hooty. He is giddy at the prospect of unlimited power from The Collector but loses his opportunity when the two and King escape and destroy the bridge between the Boiling Isles and Titan Trapper Island.
During The Collector's takeover of the Boiling Isles, he and Tarak were turned into puppets by The Collector's Spies and used to taunt King during his worst nightmare. It's presumed that Bill and Tarak, were transformed back to normal after Belos' defeat, but it's currently unknown what had happened to them.
Relationships[]
Tarak[]
Bill and Tarak are implied to have some sort of history, perhaps as friends, though Bill has little respect for Tarak and regards him more of an annoyance. Tarak then grew suspicious of him when he accidentally admitted that he intended to get all the glory for himself once The Collector was free.
Collector[]
Like the rest of the Titan Trappers, Bill worships The Collector under the name "The Grand Huntsman" and aims to set them free. However, when King set The Collector free to stop the Draining Spell, The Collector paid little mind to Bill and the Titan Trappers, besides turning him and Tarak into puppets. Additionally, The Collector doesn't seem to be very fond of the Trappers as a whole, referring to them as "those Trapper jerks" in "Watching and Dreaming".
